The EcoVadis sustainability assessment methodology is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/CSR into their business and management system.
The methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, covering 190 spend categories and 160+ countries. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes:

Since 2014 we are member of the platform Ecovadis. Every year we take a self assessment in this platform. So we can see where we are and how we do pending the CSR system. At this moment we are a silver awarded member. We keep on working to be the best in class.

As part of our CSR-program, we started with a local charity program. To participate in, and make an effort to our environment and surroundings. We started in 2018 a collaboration with a foundation which focusses on domestic violence. They help in urgent situations, they want to restore safety in families and relationships and reduce the chance of recurrence of violence.

The foundation has different locations where victims of domestic violence can find shelter in emergency situations. They receive funding from the central government and the township/municipality but this is not enough.

Because of this, volunteers and donations are needed to provide safety and a future for the victims and their children. That’s where Wetac can be of help. We will be able to help them with practical matters.

Activities we did for them:
Providing back packs filled with school supplies, providing transport and organising summerholiday activities for the children; Mobile petting zoo, bouncy castle, Play zone and more.

– l’accolade : They organize holidays for people in wheelchairs and we support them with batteries.

WETAC is ongoing searching for improvements with our plants, suppliers and transport companies to reduce Co2.

Based on critical but positive exchanges of mutual experiences, we can see a reduction of Co2 since we started monitoring in 2018.

Improvements have been realized by our factories and suppliers by investments and improvement of their processes. For example: the diesel forklifts have been replaced by electric trucks at the factories.

We work together with the best freight companies whom policy is:
Supports sustainable business. These companies cooperate according a wide GoGreen program. These programs outlines initiatives to achieve specific goals such as dramatic emissions reduction and increasing the use of alternative fuels and energy. We fully support the new regulation and welcome that the industry has taken a turn toward a greener future.

Based on transport from the harbor we continuous discuss how to transfer our containers to our warehouses within Europe. It might be easy and quick to you go by truck but we always aim to transport our containers by train or inland vessel to reduce Co2.

WETAC will continue setting up goals and targets to achieve a reduction of Co2 emissions and share these improvements.

Wetac Battery Company is always working on the Supply Chain.
We keep in close contact with our Key Suppliers* to increase the knowledge regarding CSR.
Also the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) are important for us and we communicate also about this topic with our suppliers.

Since 2018 we are participating in the Supplier Development Program (SDP) of Deutsche Telecom (DT). We provided DT 3 Key Suppliers to start this SDP Journey. EPI is the company who is responsible for this program and helping the supplier out with reaching their goals.
The program is set up to reach Best Practice in the Supply Chain. To monitor the supplier they start the following topics: Environment, Social and Governance (ESG).

In 2020 we had 13 key suppliers.
